Obioma Okonkwo is the Head of Legal at Media Rights Agenda, a non-governmental organization based in Lagos, Nigeria, and a member of Digital Democracy Initiative’s Advisory Board. Obioma is a fellow of the Open Internet for Democracy Leadership Programme and the African School on Internet Governance. She is Deutsche Welle’s Media Viability Ambassador and has been trained by Media Defence and Hertie School, in partnership with Open Society Foundations, on human rights strategic litigation.

She has expertise in advocacy campaigns, research interventions, litigation, and training aimed at advancing and defending freedom of expression, media freedom, access to information, and digital rights within and beyond Nigeria. Obioma obtained a diploma in Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
